Students are constantly struggling with the tuition dilemma facing so many others around the nation and around the world. Scholarships and grants are great, but too often these options do not add up to the funds required to attend a college or university. Many students are now turning to part-time jobs and college internships as a way to pay their bills and earn their degree.

Students should not waste too much time worrying themselves over their college tuition bills, as this often takes away from the time they have to study and get good grades in college. When students discover financial freedom for the first time, they often feel a sense of relief that they do not have to stay up nights wondering how their college tuition bills are going to get paid. Being able to pay for classes, books and other expenses students carry (rent, utilities, food, etc.) can be a huge load off and allow the student to refocus their attention to their studies and classes. This usually translates into a dramatic rise in grade point average and an overall positive college experience.

When students cease to be afraid of college tuition, they have won a huge battle that is still raging with so many of their peers. Scholarships are so competitive and grants can be hard to come by for many students, so students are then forced to find new ways of paying their bills. Many turn to a job, but with a nine to five job, students often feel pressured more than they should. A part-time job or a college internship may allow the student to maintain a flexible enough schedule to still go to classes and get their work done, but at the same time earn money for college. It is usually a win-win situation, as the financial freedom relieves a great deal of stress and the experience they get will benefit them while they are in school and after graduation.

Having experience when going on job interviews is a huge plus for students who otherwise would not have much to talk about. Being able to sell themselves as qualified candidates for jobs after college, students will usually find the job market less intimidating and daunting. Being able to confidently approach an interviewer and explain to them why they are the best applicant for the job, students will come off as strong and very capable of handling anything that is thrown their way. Employers love to see leadership and initiative and having an internship often helps to show both.

Beyond paying for college tuition bills, students with internships often are given the chance to develop their leadership abilities. Leadership is one of the most important skills a student can learn while in college. All interviewers look for examples of leadership in their applicants and having an internship allows the student to demonstrate how they were given the opportunity to lead. Having an internship also shows initiative, as it demonstrates how the student went out and found an internship so that they could make enough money to earn their degree and get some experience at the same time.
